Do you live in or around Cincinnati, Ohio? If so, you're in luck because Scott and the Queen City Voxers Group have organized a Vox user meetup!
WHERE: Ault Park Playground. 3600 Observatory Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45208. "We'll look for each other at the playground marked by the red X below. If it's raining, head for the shelter to the north of the [red] X."

If you do attend the meetup, have a great time and please take lots of pictures and send them to me so I can post them in Team Vox for everyone to see!
Thank you so much to Scott for organizing this meetup. Wish I could be there!
The dog days of summer are upon the city. Here in Edmonton, the weather is either incredibly hot, or stormy beyond recognition. Or sometimes, both in one day. That's something that will never cease to amaze me about Canada, the prairies specifically. Lately it has been 30 degrees, 35 with the humidity (86-95 Fahrenheit). It's been making me insane, especially at night trying to sleep. My bedroom is in the basement, so it's better than it is upstairs but it's still quite unbearable. I love the heat, but it's the humidity that gets to me. That and the fact that I really don't have any shorts to wear in the heat. It's mostly jeans. Tonight I'm going to the bar and am smart enough to wear a thin summer dress.
Lately it's been raining though, so it should cool off. But the humidity...oh the humidity!
My mom surprised me today with a sandwich for lunch after I woke up at 12:30. Ahhhh, it was GREAT to sleep in! I haven't done that in quite awhile. Not since I've quit Hollister anyways.
Oh yes. I quit. I love their clothes, I like the ideals that they say they hold themselves to. But it would be even better if they followed through. They preach the greatness of having a clean lifestyle, no weird hair, no cake-face make-up, etc. But while they hire people who look like what they're pushing, they don't have that attitude. Everyone who works there is so completely absorbed with their image, it's totally counter to what they encourage. I hate the uptight attitude and the "holier-than-thou, look-down-my-nose-at-you" thing too. Couldn't stand it actually. It's why I quit.
Going out tonight. Very excited!
Saw Hancock yesterday. It was really good...until he tried to kiss the wife of the guy who was helping him and she revealed her super powers and threw him out the window. Things escalated from there and the movie became totally different. Not sure how I feel about it. Kinda made me think,"Oh, great, here we go. Same old stuff coming from Hollywood." What should I expect. (Side note: Charlize Theron is totally beautiful and Will Smith is totally beautiful.) But, it was heading down this reachable, kind of believable path...until that point where she, well, you know, threw him out the window...
and they became fighting gods or something. He said it! Finally said it. Those three little words that seem so inconsequential, but can change absolutely everything. He realized when he was in Europe he felt the same way I do.
He told me. He loves me!
Groundbreaking Thinker (GT)
(Just visiting? Take the free test and determine your personality type!)
Groundbreaking
Thinkers are charming, enthusiastic persons. They really bubble over
with energy and like to take centre stage. They love variety both
professionally and privately. Groundbreaking Thinkers tackle changes
consistently with their optimism and firm belief in their own
abilities; they are always on the look-out for improvement
possibilities. Their excellent communication skills are of great
advantage to them here. They approach the world with curiosity and
openness and master new situations with a great deal of talent for
improvising and with resourcefulness. Their spare time is taken up with
a large number of hobbies; most Groundbreaking Thinkers like to travel
in order to gather as many different impressions as possible. This
personality type is unbeatable at discovering new possibilities. In their work, Groundbreaking Thinkers highly rate challenges and diversified tasks. They cannot stand routine and too detailed work. They love to astound others with bold ideas for an original, new project and then leave it up to the others to implement them. Hierarchies, rules and regulations arouse their opposition and they love outsmarting the system. It is vital to them that they enjoy their work; if this is the case, they quickly become pure workaholics. Their creativity best takes effect when they work independently; but they are very good at motivating others and infecting them with their optimistic nature. Conceptual or advisory activities appeal especially to Groundbreaking Thinkers. It can happen that some people feel somewhat duped by their flexible, spontaneous nature.
Their sociability
and enterprise ensure that Groundbreaking Thinkers always have a large
circle of friends and acquaintances in which activity plays an
important role. As they are mostly in a good mood, they are popular and
very welcome guests. Grumbling and peevishness are unknown to them.
However, they do tend to be a little erratic and unstable when it comes
to obligations and this makes them appear to be unreliable to some.
Groundbreaking Thinkers are very critical and demanding when it comes
to picking a partner because they look for the ideal relationship and
have a very concrete picture of this ideal relationship. Mutual aims in
life are very important to them. They do not like compromising and
would rather remain alone. For the partner, it is often a challenge to
have a long-term relationship with a Groundbreaking Thinker.
Groundbreaking Thinkers need a lot of space and diversity or otherwise
they become bored and feel cramped. Types who are rather more
traditionalistic often have problems with the willingness of
Groundbreaking Thinkers to take risks and their often crazy,
spontaneous actions. However, if one can summon up sufficient
flexibility and tolerance for them, one will never be bored in their
presence and will always have a loyal and faithful partner.

I work at a place that does not encourage conversation, except for a few minutes during breaks and the 30 minute lunch. I have worked at this place for about 10 years. In ten years I cannot say that I have a group of friends that I ever see or speak to outside of work. For the most part, that is not a big deal to me....because my life outside of work is basically full of family and daily routine. But there is one friend who is someone I never have enough time to talk to and with whom I would like to just have coffee or lunch or whatever....so we could actually build and even finish a conversation. She is such a genuine individual. She is generous. She is creative and artistic. I really like her.
So, to Aemi, I just want to say.....if we had the time, and our different work schedules allowed....it would be cool to hang out.
But if not....you are someone who will always be my friend, even if I just see you and talk to you for a few minutes every week.
You are one of the good ones.
Although almost every day at Six Apart is Take Your Dog to Work Day, Friday was extra special because it was the official Take Your Dog to Work Day! Plus, as lovers of blogs and animals, we think it's great that active blogger and Human Society's President and CEO, Wayne Pacelle, thinks having dogs around the office is a good reminder of "who we're working for."
We realize some people have it ruff and aren't lucky enough to be able to bring their dog to work, but hopefully these pictures taken at Six Apart last Friday will get your tails wagging... And let me tell you, it's harder than it looks to get all the doggies and their fetching owners in one picture.
For those of us in the northern hemisphere, today is the summer solstice. For ancient civilizations, this day was akin to our modern day New Year's Eve and was viewed as a time to reflect and renew. So why not kick off your summer celebration with a new theme?
